Our mission is to save the lives of dogs and cats at risk of euthansia.
Adopting A Friend
We network with other vets, shelters, rescue groups and the community throughout all of California, to rescue dogs and cats from situations that without our intervention would result in the unnecessary euthanasia of that dog or cat. We personally tour and search out shelters that euthanize due to over crowding, these dogs and cats sometimes have merely 4 days to find a family before their time is up. We seek out these dogs and cats through personal trips to the shelters, email warnings for at risk dogs and cats, and special requests by other rescue groups to work cooperatively to save these adoptable and loveable pets. This requires a constant staff for email review, shelter list review, phone calls to shelters, transport and time.
Once our rescues are brought to The Pet Rescue Center's facility our Veterinarian and Operations Director RVT thoroughly examine the dog or cat for any medical, behavioral, aesthetic or social problems that will need rehabilitation during his/her stay with us. The duration of stay for each dog and cat rescue is determined by the severity of the rescues rehabilitation, spay/neuter, vaccination, flea treatment and microchipping needs. Once a rescue is ready to go, we will tirelessly work to find that dog or cat a forever family though social media, adoption websites, meet and greets and adoption events. We are always sad to see our rescues go, but so happy to know we have saved a life and created a family.
All for a very worthy outcome, Saving Lives!
Who We Are
We are more than just a Rescue Group! We strive to make a substantial, positive impression on the pet community.
We create positive relationships with Kill and No Kill Shelters by reviewing their PTS (Put to Sleep) lists for pets to save, and Special Needs lists for medical cases that we can treat in house to ensure their adoption.
We provide a no-kill, veterinary supervised temporary sanctuary with office hours and storefront atmosphere for these pets while we work to locate an adopting family.
We have a state-of-the-art, safe & clean facility, boarding, training and a caring staff at our advantage to provide a complete service to the rescue and adoption movement.
We incorporate a fresh, environmentally friendly, creative marketing approach for adoptions including an interactive website, e-newsletters, media, events, and store front meet & greets.
We sponsor medical treatments of special needs or victimized dogs & cats and of our rescued pets as needed including but not limited to spay/neuter, microchips and vaccines.
We provide communities with education and resource support for pet care (nutritional & behavioral issues), children & pets safety outreach and pet therapy.
We have a Pet Pantry for Seniors and the Unemployed which provides free pet food and cat litter to those who qualify. Our goal is to help families care for their pets and prevent unnecessary owner surrenders to our local shelters.
We are a Non-Profit (501c3).

In order to adopt a pet from The Pet Rescue Center you must first fill out an adoption application.
We screen our potential adopters to make sure that all our animals will go to a suitable home for his or her needs. You will be contacted to set up an appointment after your application is received.
After you are approved and have picked out an animal that you would like to adopt, you will be required to fill out an adoption waiver and pay the adoption fee. Then you can take home your new pet!
If we do not currently have a pet that you are interested in but would like to see if you can be approved for adoption in the future, please feel free to send in an application and we will let you know if you are pre-approved.
